| The American Catahoula Association (ACA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to uniting owners and breeders of registered Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dogs. The ACA is not a registry. The Association works to promote and maintain the conformation and working ability of the registered Catahoula through shows, clinics, trials and certified testing. Catahoulas registered with recognized registries are eligible to compete in ACA sponsored events, thus broadening the competition as compared to registry-exclusive shows and trials. Each year ACA sponsors a number of diversified events to appeal to Catahoula owners with a broad range of interests, such as: Junior Showmanship, Conformation Shows, Obedience, Advanced Obedience, and Field Trials: Treeing, Hog Bay (A &B), Cow Bay (on foot), and Cow Trials (on horseback). In addition, the association sanctions selected open trials to provide members with additional resources for competition and acquisition of points toward a working championship for their dogs. The rules have been compiled to coincide with the activities of the American Catahoula Association shows and activities. We would like to thank the American Kennel Club, Animal Research Foundation, National Association of Louisiana Catahoulas, Catahoula Cur Breeders Association, and United Kennel Club, for establishing a base from which these rules are derived. It is not the intent of ACA or any of its officers to suggest that these rules be adhered to in any way, shape or form, other than expressly within ACA functions. |
